What is CrowdCoder Hub?

CrowdCoder Hub is an online education and practice platform for Australian clinical coders. It lets you code realistic inpatient episodes end-to-end — full medical record, real coding workflow — and then compare your answers against a gold standard built from the consensus of credentialed coders.

Who is CrowdCoder Hub for?

Anyone working in, or working towards, funding-grade inpatient clinical coding: practising clinical coders maintaining and extending their skills, HIM and clinical coding students, coding auditors, and coding managers who want a structured way to develop their teams.

Which classifications does CrowdCoder Hub cover?

Hub is built for the Australian coding environment: ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and the Australian Coding Standards (ACS). CrowdCoder holds an IHACPA Software Developer Licence for these classifications, so the content you practise on reflects the current editions used in Australian hospitals.

What's the difference between CrowdCoder Hub and CrowdCoder Connect?

Hub is for learning and knowledge quizzes; Connect is for practice and examination. Think of Hub as the classroom ground and Connect as the simulator.

I’m currently studying the HLT50321 Diploma. Can I use CrowdCoder Hub at the same time?

Absolutely. Many of our students use CrowdCoder as a practical study companion while completing their formal qualifications through an RTO. While your diploma teaches you the heavy theoretical rules and guidelines, our simulator gives you the "behind the wheel" driving hours. Combining the two means you will graduate with both the paperwork and the actual coding speed needed to ace your first job interview.

Are there any prerequisites in terms of qualifications?

You must complete the free IHACPA 13th Edition training (approx. 7–10 hours) before starting CrowdCoder Hub courss. CrowdCoder Hub is designed for graduates and students of the clinical coding diplomas and degrees. 

Do I need to buy the physical ICD-10-AM and ACHI coding books to do this course?

No, you do not need to own the physical multi-volume book sets to use our platform. Our simulator features an integrated digital lookup tool built right into CodeFinder, allowing you to search guidelines, principal diagnoses, and procedural codes dynamically. This mirrors modern electronic health record (EHR) environments used in progressive public and private hospitals across Australia.

Is this course a nationally recognised accreditation or the HLT50321 Diploma?

No. CrowdCoder does not issue the HLT50321 Diploma of Clinical Coding. Instead, we provide the critical, practical bridging training that gives you hands-on experience of coding real-world Australian medical charts. This practical competency is exactly what health information managers look for when hiring.

Can I improve my ability to get an entry-level clinical coding job in Australia using this course?

Yes. The number one complaint from Australian health service employers is that applicants have academic knowledge but cannot code standard hospital records efficiently. By training on real clinical documents inside our platform, you build the specific speed and diagnostic accuracy required to pass hospital pre-employment coding tests and stand out for clinical coder roles. 

Where do the medical records come from? 

Every episode in Hub is generated by our synthetic clinical record engine. The records look and read like genuine Australian hospital documentation — admission forms, progress notes, operation records, medication charts, pathology and radiology reports — but no real patient data is used at any point. There is no privacy risk to you, your employer, or any patient.

How realistic are the medical records?

Very. Episodes are built as complete, internally consistent record sets — the same patient identity, dates, clinicians, and clinical story flow through every form, just as they would in a real chart. You code from the documentation, not from a tidy case summary, because that's the skill that matters.

Can I use Hub to train or upskill my coding team?

Yes. Hub supports team use — managers can assign practice episodes, monitor accuracy and error patterns across the team, and target education where the data shows it's needed. Because feedback is standards-referenced, it doubles as structured, auditable professional development.
